Mountain House is designed to care for one young person between the ages of 7-17, of all genders, who require medium to long-term placements.  

Mountain House is situated in Mount Pleasant, Swansea.  The location creates accessible opportunities in all aspects of life relevant to the lives of most young people.

Swansea offers excellent links to all South Wales cities and major towns. The nearest bus stop is 0.2 miles away and offers convenient local travel options whilst further improving the opportunity for young people to develop independency, life skills and opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities.

‘National Cycle Route 4’ is easily accessible and offers a five-mile cycle or walk across Swansea Bay and beyond. This route takes you alongside ‘Swansea Beach’ – which is just an eight-minute drive from the home, whilst dozens of spectacular beaches lie further West within the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Mountain House is also located close to a range of activities suitable throughout all seasons. Local facilities include ‘LC2’ which features an indoor waterpark, surf simulator, 30ft climbing wall, multi-purpose sports hall, gym, spa and sauna. Three retail parks are located close by – the closest of which is home to a tropical zoo, cinema, and bowling complex. Other nearby activities include a trampoline park, excellent fishing spots, outdoor activity centers and The Swansea City Stadium – home to Swansea City FC and Ospreys rugby team.

Rugby, football, cricket, and netball are all popular team sports in South Wales and Swansea provides excellent options in all of these sports. Clubs within the region include Swansea Rugby Club, Swansea Athletics Club, Swansea Hockey Club, Swim Wales, Play Cricket, Play Netball, Swansea Bay Golf Club, and numerous football clubs. Young people can also join organisations such as Swansea Scouts and Guides. All outdoor pursuit activities will be fully promoted and encouraged for all our young people.
