Mission, Culture & Values

Our Mission
Ty Caredig was founded in 2021 with the ambition to create excellent and effective residential care for young people. Ty Caredig’s mission is to provide care that prioritises the wellbeing and development of young people above all else. We do this by prioritising both a trauma-led approach and the wellbeing of our staff.
We recognise that the wellbeing of our staff is integral for enabling our mission. Therefore, we are dedicated to ensuring that all jobs we create are genuinely positive. Also, recognising the impact of trauma on young people’s lives, Ty Caredig adopt a trauma-led approach from the start, integrating practices shaped by our in-house trauma-specialised art psychotherapist.
Our Vision
A company’s culture describes “how it feels” at work and the values that our experience conveys. In other words, what the “vibe” is normally like and what that means. The vibe is shaped by our attitudes, communication and behaviour. The culture at work is fundamental – the young people and the staff alike experience it; it affects how we feel and therefore our wellbeing.
Ty Caredig’s culture is defined by care and kindness, reflecting our name, which means “kind” or “caring house” in Welsh. Our culture shapes the working environment for both staff and young people, fostering a positive atmosphere essential for everyone’s wellbeing.

Our Values
Our core values are care and kindness. These values guide all our actions and interactions, ensuring that both young people and staff feel supported and valued. The following additional values were collectively identified and voted as most important by our staff:
Compassion
In a trauma-informed way guided by the PACE model, we support and relate to the young people using: Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy. We collaborate with the young people to hear and understand them with compassion and non-judgement.
Unity
We are committed to working as a trusting team, recognising that we are equal in value regardless of job role. We are consistent in our practices to help young people achieve the best possible outcomes.
Honesty
We are authentic, thoughtful, reflective, open and brave in our behaviour and communication. We also support the young people to be themselves.
Proactivity
We have a mindset to do our best, use initiative, continue to learn and be enthusiastic.
Inclusivity
We are empathetic and compassionate in continuous efforts to engage young people in all aspects of life, including exploring new opportunities.
Fairness
We are respectful, balanced, patient, considered and transparent, taking responsibility in our decision making: we behave with integrity, in the knowledge that we will then be supported by the organisation.
